Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist died Saturday evening of cancer, ending a 33-year Supreme Court Conservative Legacy.
His death creates a rare second vacancy on the nation's highest court, and leaves President Bush with his second court opening within four months.
What can I say? Is this luck for President Bush or it just didn't come at the right time?
Now the Bush administration can use the opportunity to control the American policy and the American way of living for the next 20 or even 30 years. Then, since the Katrina disaster, the Bush administration faces the criticism it had never before. Will that make the President more willing to compromise his decision?
Hope so, but I don't think so!
This administration's attitudes towards criticism are always 'you can say whatever you want to say, I'll still do whatever I want to do.' Because 'It is good for the American public.'
The chief justice passed up a chance to step down over the summer. Rehnquist said in July that he wanted to stay on the bench as long as his health would allow. He did just that.
